Club History
Sometime during the second last decade or so, of last century (maybe 1986???) and as a strategy to get more “males” involved in the local Neighbourhood House, the Tea Tree Gully Photography Club was formed. The committee really wanted more ACTIVE husbands!
Since then we have continued to thrive, although at times with very small numbers, but very keen members. Interestingly we currently have just as many females as males!
We originally were a “Camera” club, and this century we became a “Photography” club which makes much more sense, given the camera is merely a tool!
As a club we pride ourselves in not taking ourselves too seriously and our current emphasis is on helping members learn and develop new skills in this digital age.
Meeting twice a month, in the first meeting we hold a competition in the second we have skills/workshops/tutorials/guest speakers at the meeting. Members submit work in projected digital images, colour and black and white.
In between times there are occasional trips and excursions to a variety of places including overnight trips to places like Burra, Barmera, York Peninsula and the Flinders.
Meetings are now held twice a month at the Modbury U3A rooms next to the Modbury Primary School.
